Enjoy a brilliant solo cello recital, a beautiful collection of New Zealand art and take a refreshing walk in the grounds of this historic homestead.
Ashley Brown, one of New Zealand’s most celebrated cellists, will give a solo recital in the new gallery at Rototāwai at 3pm.
Ashley plans to explore the unique acoustics of this intriguing new venue in a programme of classic solo cello masterpieces. The music will reflect the beautiful surroundings of Rototāwai, and reveal the gorgeous sound of Ashley’s 1762 William Forster cello named Liberté, affectionately known as Libby!
The venue holds Anna Bidwill’s art collection, gathered over 50 years, celebrates a wide variety of New Zealand artists. This significant collection is made available for viewing through her Foundation and is displayed in the brand new contemporary gallery and her original family home,
Rototāwai.
Rototāwai is surrounded by 8 hectares of magnificent historic trees and lake frontage. Pick up a Garden Map and enjoy a self-guided walk, and a tour of Anna’s private collection in the homestead before the 3pm concert in the gallery.
