Journey through a landscape of renewal on Ruamāhanga Farm. This guided walk with Jane & Rod leads you into a restoring wetland, through an ancient tī kōuka grove, down to the Ruamāhanga awa, and past areas of recent riparian planting. Along the way, pause at key sites to listen to curated recordings of tamariki involved in Te Reo o Te Wai—a multi-arts project connecting communities with the health of Wairarapa Moana.
This dusk walk invites reflection, learning, and connection. It is ideal for those curious about wetland restoration, multi-disciplinary approaches to education, or simply experiencing nature in a new way. Parts of the route will remain open to the public after the Festival.
The walk is mostly flat on mown grass, with six hand-held stiles to cross, two scrambly riverbank sections, and the possibility of some boggy patches. Walking boots are recommended.
We would welcome koha towards Ruamāhanga Farm Foundation education programmes.
Delivered in partnership with Wairarapa Catchment Collective and the Ruamāhanga Farm Foundation.
